Center for Women Empowerment and Democracy has operated as a mobile and remote nonprofit that has extended globally through its members and their efforts since 2008. Founded by Norah Sarsour, it came out of an idea to continue university based activism for working women and to support those endeavors.
While our efforts may be small or grand, in inner cities or rural villages, our principles are universal:
We all have a voice that will be heard.
We all have the efficacy to impact change.
We all are members to community.
We all are powerful as she.
As working mothers, daughters, and sisters, community members, friends, partners, and allies we strive to uphold the essential role of women globally and their ability and right to be decision makers for themselves, their futures, and their communities.
We have sponsored interns ranging in focus, from high school students working on community research projects, to community advocates looking to harness their voice with our support. If you would like to become an intern, please contact us.
Available Internships:
High School Empowered for She Intern
